Hi, I’m Dr. Angie Hays! I help adults and high achievers learn to navigate the challenges of ADHD, life stresses, anxiety, and boundaries. My work often centers on helping people understand how their life experiences have shaped them and how to move toward the version of themselves they want to become. I also proudly own HBHG and supervise the work of our Assessment Clinic.
How I work.
My approach blends curiosity, compassion, and practical insight. Whether through therapy or assessment, my goal is to help clients connect the dots between their past and present and use that understanding to design a more intentional, balanced future. I believe that peace happens when we are free to move throughout our lives as our most authentic self.
Who I help.
I work primarily with adults, parents, leaders, and professionals who are used to pushing themselves hard but are ready to find a more sustainable way to succeed. Many of my clients struggle with overthinking, burnout, and the pressure to do it all. Together, we work on boundaries, self-understanding, and strategies that make life feel lighter and more purposeful.
As the supervising psychologist for our Assessment Clinic, I oversee a team dedicated to providing comprehensive evaluations that go beyond test scores and look at the whole person. Each evaluation examines the many facets of an individual’s life to uncover the “why” behind their challenges and help chart a clear, personalized path forward.
Whether someone is seeking clarity around ADHD, learning differences, emotional patterns, or life transitions, our goal is to help them find answers and direction. Every assessment is designed not just to explain what is happening, but to guide meaningful next steps so patients leave feeling informed, understood, and equipped to grow.
Why I do this work.
I started Hays Behavioral Health Group because I saw two major barriers keeping people from getting care: the client experience and the complexity of financially accessing mental health services. I wanted to build a group practice that changed that. From the very first phone call to the last session, our goal is for clients to feel caught, cared for, understood, and supported at every step.
We focus on making the process as smooth and anxiety-free as possible, especially for those new to counseling or seeking psychological evaluations. By accepting several major insurance plans and offering affordable options, we make care accessible. And by supporting our clinicians with fair reimbursement and reduced administrative burden, we ensure they can focus fully on what matters most: their clients.
A bit about me.
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me recharging with my family, watching my kids in their after-school activities, or brainstorming creative projects for the practice. I’m passionate about building relationships — both in therapy and in business — that help people feel seen, valued, and capable of growth.
The boring stuff.
I graduated with my doctorate in Clinical Psychology and a graduate minor in School Psychology from Louisiana State University in 2009. I completed my pre-doctoral residency at Florida State University, and after earning my degree, I joined the practice of Southeast Neuroscience Center and Jefferson Neurobehavioral Group for my post-doctoral work.
In 2012, I relocated with my family to Houston, Texas and became certified in telebehavioral health in 2014. After several years living abroad in Hungary, I returned to The Woodlands, Texas, where I founded Hays Behavioral Health Group, a full-service psychology clinic focused on comprehensive care.
Our office serves as an internship site for the University of Houston’s Master of Counseling program, and in 2025 we opened a second clinic location in College Station, Texas.I have appeared as a psychological expert on CNN, WAFB in Baton Rouge, and WWLTV in New Orleans, and have written for numerous publications including Point of Vue and IN Magazine.
