Daily Routine and Mental Health
Have you ever wondered if your day to day routine played a role in your mental health? It absolutely does! Our daily habits fuel our mental health, making it extra important to ensure our habits support the life we want to live. A daily routine allows individuals to feel a sense of control in life, that sense of control provides a stability to hold on too. The human brain loves and prefers routine, so it’s important to ensure our habits are fueling our brains and bodies in a positive, healthy way.
Starting Small
Studies have shown taking simply twenty seconds a day to be intentionally positive could improve an individual’s mindset. Implementing this small practice in addition to prioritizing sleep by keeping a consistent bedtime routine, eating regular meals, adding movement daily and ensuring social connections are a recipe for a more positive mental health.
Allowing ourselves to engage in endorphin increasing activities such as physical activity or socializing with friends and loved ones as well as making time for mindfulness can be things we don’t always prioritize. We don’t always see the long term benefits of these activities, but they are worth it.
Long-term Value
Changing or adapting our habits and routine are not always easy. The key to success is small changes steadily over time, mindfully making effort. While the initial updates to the routine can seem daunting once they are consistently practiced they become like second nature. It’s worth it to strive towards, peace, clarity, resiliency and more positive mental stability.
